Messenger Virus and Other Ways of Virus Infection
Felt that your security is being threatened with viruses and identity thieves? It happens to everyone from the best of geeks to the most of normal of internet users like you and me. One of the first things that you notice once your computer has been infected with these viruses is that your computer gets slower and refuses to the simplest of actions like the right click quickly.
These virus infections on your computer come from a variety of sources. They can be through your friends thumb drive or from an email attachment your grandmother sent you. The other methods a trojan attacks your computer is through the chat messengers like MSN Messenger(now called the Live Messenger) or the Yahoo Messenger.
The virus that infect your computer through these chat clients like MSN and yahoo are specially dangerous as they tend to spread virally through your contact lists. Once your computer is infected, the virus sends out random and seemingly real chat messages like "Hey, is this picture OK to upload on MySpace?" and it is followed by a link to a picture.
Once the link is clicked on the messenger, it downloads the Trojan virus and it will infect your PC with more viruses. This cycle then continues from the infected computer to the contacts in that yahoo or MSN messenger.
One thing that you should do once you buy a new computer is to install proper anti-virus software and use a firewall to protect yourself from infections. Also, personally I would recommend not to click any suspicious links in messengers even if they are sent by your friends.
